Where to Stay Near Yosemite: Park Lodges, Gateways, and Cabins

Where should you stay when visiting Yosemite?

Visitors can stay inside Yosemite National Park, in gateway towns near park entrances, or in cabin and vacation-rental areas outside the gates. Staying inside the park reduces drive time. Staying outside the park can give you more dining choices, lower prices, and easier last-minute availability.

Good base areas

  • Yosemite Valley: best for first-time visitors who want the classic sights close by.
  • El Portal: practical access to the Arch Rock Entrance.
  • Mariposa: more restaurants, services, and lodging choices.
  • Oakhurst and Fish Camp: useful for Mariposa Grove and the South Entrance.
